Therapy:

Within our facility, we have an active physical therapy department who strive to restore our residents to their previous physical condition. We offer Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy and our Restorative Aides who are all a part of our quality staff at the Manor.

Dietary:

Our dining room is very bright and spacious. Our Dietary Department is interested in serving our residents attractive, nutritional meals. We also offer a selective menu that allows the residents to make choices about what they would like to have at each meal. The meals are then served by a host or hostess in a restaurant style manner. We also prepare special requests one time per month, which is chosen by the residents attending Resident Council. This is our "Resident Choice Meal".

Activities:

The activity program is coordinated by a qualified Activities Director and staff on a 7 day-a week basis. Upon admission all residents are visited and with them an on-going program is set up according to their interests.

Our programs restore physical skills, promote social interaction and ensure emotional well being. A variety of activities are offered, including evening and weekends.

  • Bingo
  • Crafts
  • Cooking
  • Shopping Trips
  • Pet Therapy
  • Spiritual and religious programs
  • Individual Room Visits
  • Monthly Birthday Parties
  • Seasonal Programs and Parties
  • Music Programs
  • Community Events

Many programs are provided not only by the activity department but by community organizations. The various personalities from the community are what makes the life here at the Manor special.

SUPPORT

Social Services:

It is the responsibility of Social Services to formulate plans for admissions and discharges and to counsel families as to financial matters such as eligibility for Medicare and Medicaid. They are available for any concerns of the residents or families.

Volunteers:

The Monroe City Manor Auxiliary was established in 1991 and is still going strong. The Auxiliary is a group of women from the community working together to enrich the lives of our extended family. The Auxiliary volunteers for many activities at the Manor, such as bingo, crafts and participation in socialization with the residents. Fundraisers throughout the year have been very successful and used for the good of the home. The Manor also has many other volunteers from the community who share their talent with us. For more information contact the Activity Department.

Alzheimer's Support Group:

Monroe City Manor holds a monthly Alzheimer's Support Group the first Tuesday of every month. This meeting is for anyone who has a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer's or for any caregiver of an Alzheimer patient. It is held in the dining room of the facility and usually lasts up to an hour. It is chaired by Nancy Voepel, Monroe City Manor Auxiliary President, with support and material provided by the American Alzheimer's Association.
